Haptic and optical effects on packaging

Metallic inks and films

Metallic effects can be created using embossing film (hot foil) and using flexo-printing procedures (ink). When hot foil embossing, the metallic layer is transferred using temperature and pressure from a carrier foil onto the paper using an embossing stamp. This may be a flat or a plastic embossed motif (relief embossing). When flexo-printing, a high pressure printing plate is used to transfer a water-based dispersion enriched with gold leaf onto the printing materials. If the entire surface is to be metallic, we use card that is already covered with metal and then print and further process it.
